This is for you if…
You’ve done an antenatal course, but feel like there was something missing in terms of preparing for a CALM birth. This can be used as a bolt-on to another course or as an introduction to hypnobirthing.
You’ve heard how Hypnobirthers have managed to enjoy their births, but want to know EXACTLY how they achieved this (Is it magic? Is it airy fairy nonsense? NOT AT ALL!)
You’re nervous about coping with contractions or pain during labour and need some practical coping mechanisms
You want to make space for some ‘me’ time during pregnancy, when everything seems so focused on the baby
“I enjoyed having activities to do as it made me write things down and look into things I realised were gaps in my knowledge. Completing this workbook gave me time to think about things before baby arrived.”
FAQs
What actually is hypnobirthing and why do I need it?
Hypnobirthing is just an understanding that you need to stay out of panic mode when you go into labour, because birth doesn’t have to be the scary or dangerous medical event we are led to believe it is on TV. If you have coping strategies and start to trust your body to do its thing, you will actually able to minimise the fear or pain you might have otherwise experienced. Birthing your baby should be an emotional and transformative experience: hypnobirthing can help you to achieve this. Our Hypnobirthing Essentials workbook features 10 really practical techniques including breathing techniques, massage, visualisations and guided relaxations. We have also included reliable resources, a space to work through your worries and a birth hormone guide.
Why don’t all antenatal classes cover hypnobirthing, if it’s so important?
There is some belief that hypnobirthing isn’t necessary or achievable for everyone- this is nonsense. You don’t have to be planning an unmedicated water birth at home and you don’t have to be an expert in meditation. Our hypnobirthing approach focuses on the physiology (biological mechanisms) of birth and all the in-built processes we have in place ALREADY. Studies have shown that birthers who use hypnobirthing techniques ask less for pain relief and report a more positive experience.
Will this be useful if I’m planning a caesarean or induction?
You can hypnobirthing techniques in ANY setting- it doesn’t matter what type of birth you are hoping for or how it actually unfolds on the day. The aim is to practise the skills so that you are adaptable.
